1Get into WinRE

  • Power on → wait for Windows logo/dots → hold power to turn off.
  • Repeat 2–3 times until you see Preparing Automatic RepairAdvanced options.
  • If you have a Windows USB installer, you can also boot it and choose Repair your computer.

2Uninstall the update (fastest fix)

  • WinRE: TroubleshootAdvanced optionsUninstall Updates.
  • Choose Uninstall latest quality update and confirm.
  • Reboot and test.

3If it still won’t boot

  • Startup Repair (WinRE → Advanced options → Startup Repair).
  • System Restore (if enabled) to a point before the update.
  • Safe Mode (Startup Settings) to remove problematic drivers/security software.

4After recovery (prevent repeats)

  • Pause updates for 1–2 weeks (Settings → Windows Update).
  • Update chipset/storage/graphics drivers from the PC vendor.
  • Keep 15–20GB free space before updates.
  • Run DISM/SFC when stable.

Tip: If BitLocker prompts appear, you’ll need the recovery key. For managed devices, use your organization’s key escrow process.
